PRU Teaching Assistant\n\nSheffield | In-Person | Flexible Hours | Supply Basis\n\nTradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistants to work within Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and alternative provisions across Sheffield on a supply basis.\n\nThis rewarding role involves supporting children and young people who are unable to access mainstream education due to behavioural, emotional, social, or additional learning needs. Working across a trust of schools and alternative provisions, you will play a key role in helping pupils re-engage with education, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes.\n\nAs a Supply PRU Teaching Assistant, no two days will be the same. You may work across a variety of settings, supporting pupils in small groups, one-to-one interventions, or within specialist classrooms.\n\nThe Role\n\nSupport pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.\nAssist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.\nBuild positive and trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced barriers to learning.\nSupport behaviour management strategies and promote positive outcomes.\nWork on a one-to-one basis or with small groups of students.\nEncourage pupil engagement, attendance, and personal development.\nWork flexibly across multiple schools and provisions within the trust.\n\nThe Ideal Candidate Will Have\n\nExperience working with children or young people in an educational, youth work, care, coaching, or support setting.\nStrong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.\nA calm, patient, and resilient approach.\nThe ability to remain professional in challenging situations.\nA genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.\nA valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.Experience within a PRU, alternative provision, SEN setting, youth offending service, residential care, or similar environment would be highly advantageous but is not essential.\n\nWhat Tradewind Recruitment Offers\n\nFlexible supply work to suit your availability.\nCompetitive rates of pay.\nOpportunities to gain experience across a range of specialist settings.\nAccess to free CPD and professional development opportunities.\nOngoing support from a dedicated consultant.\nThe opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people.\n\nSalary\n\nPay rates are competitive and will vary depending on experience, qualifications, and availability.\n\nCandidates at the lower end of the pay scale are typically those with less relevant experience or limited availability.
